Twenty Cheap Date Ideas

Spending time with your beloved is important as you never know how long we all have got in this world. Spending money on date nights is a nice way to spend time. However, it’s not always practical, affordable and at times, it’s better to do something new. Therefore, it’s okay to save money for other things as well as your relationship. For, sometimes we need money for our education, family, and fill in our bank loans. So, I have made a list for you to have fun spending time with your partner and yet have money to save!

Here are some cheap date ideas:-

  1. Benefiting from the seasons. We are very lucky to have four seasons so why don’t we make the best out of them?  If it’s snowing, then go outdoors to play in the snow, build a snowman/snow-woman, play with snow (make sure you don’t throw it too hard so that you don’t hurt your partner) and then if you would like to get rid of the cold, drink hot chocolate.

2. Spend time slow dancing in the rain, sitting and watching the rain or kiss in the rain like you miss them. Play in the rain and forget all the pain. Else, share your problems in the gloomy weather while sipping your favorite coffee/tea; it might help you get rid of all the stress in the world.

  1. In summers, go to the beach, build sandcastles, take creative photos of each other, swim, and learn to surf or catch fish together. As a change you could even go to a kid’s swimming pool and have fun refreshing and sharing childhood memories. And have ice cream together.
  1. When in fall, make a bonfire night, have marshmallows. Also, take pictures using beautiful vintage leafy backgrounds, learn to work together- clean the backyard or lawn together. Working together strengthens the bond. Make your creative Halloween costumes beforehand and carve pumpkins a few days before Halloween.

5. Take a walk in the gardens, meadows, hold hands, and lay on the grass to gaze at the birds fly in the blue sky. Also, try playing hide and seek in the corn field if you want to try something new or simply spend time together away from the city. It would be refreshing for both.

6. Go hiking on a Sunday morning to a nearby mountain. Most hikes can be had for free. Hikes can be challenging which would grow your bond stronger with your partner. Also, admiring the landscapes and scenic view together is very romantic.

  1. If you are a foodie and want to spend time with your loved one then try cooking a new recipe together. Maybe you could even invent a new recipe, I mean why not if you can get creative! For a change, instead of getting a pizza ordered, why not make it at home with your partner?
  1. Go to a museum together. Yes, it might sound boring at first but exploring the world without having to spend on the travel expenses is not a bad idea after all. And visiting it as a tourist can be fun.

 9. Having a lovely picnic in the park among the cute squirrels and birds won’t cost much; you would be cooking at home or just getting some snacks and beverages which you can buy for less than spending on a proper dinner night. Also, you just need a blanket to lie, and then you can spend the hours talking, enjoying the food by appreciating and thanking your partner for it and then, do nothing more than simply people-watching.

10. If you are too tired after work or it’s one of those days when you feel super lazy, then build a pillow fort like children do, and play king and queen! It’s never absurd or stupid to bring out the child in you. And who knows, it might end up getting a little hot in there. 😉

  1. Play games together. Whether you like to play video games or board games you played in your childhood, we can still play them now. Games can be fun with friends, family and it can be just as amusing with two people as well. So, after a long day of work, try playing a game with your partner. You could play card games like UNO, Love Letter, Golf, Slapjack, etc. If you don’t like card games then there are plenty of other options, also, such as Scrabble, Chess, Monopoly, Ludo, Snake and Ladder, Jenga, etc. There are games like Mastermind, Boggle, Dominoes, Would You Rather, Truth and Dare, and so on. As jigsaw puzzles take time to finish but they are extremely good for exercising our brains, try being collaborative and you will see how fun they can get. Buy or play any game you are not expensive or you can borrow from a sibling or you might already have some at home, a final option would be to play games online, so, enjoy! Nevertheless, play any game you like, it’s about being collaborative, exercising your mind, sportsman spirit and you will also have some tug of war time!

12. If you like to cook for your partner, you could surprise them with a dinner at home and gladly that would make them happy! So you see, dinner at home is as or much better than going out sometimes as you would have a tasty, healthy meal made with love and efforts which is enough to make a night memorable.

  1. Go on a midnight bike ride. Have you ever wondered why the city looks so much prettier at midnight than any other time of the day? That’s evidently because there are fewer people and vehicles commuting at that time of the night and so, everything becomes as peaceful as there is not a living soul on the roads. So, imagine how peaceful and amazing the ride would be! I can tell you by my own experience; it was one of the best things that ever happened to me!

14. Some things never go out of style! And I think expressing your love to dear ones by writing love letters and keeping flowers next to them is very classy and can never get out of style. Since it’s not done any longer as we text most of the time, why not say something good to your partner to make their day? Write love letters to each other and then read them out to each other as if reading a real letter. Especially, if it’s during a lock down period and you are not being able to go out. Therefore, it can be really meaningful to let your partner know in this time of crisis how much you truly love them by writing them a love letter.

15. If you have been on many walks and are quite honestly bored of them, have you crossed a river or a fountain in the way? If you have then, I have an idea for you to cheer up your partner right then! If you have a coin, then make a wish! Maybe even going on a boat ride or feeding fishes in a lakeside aren’t bad ones either. What do you think?

16. Do you love animals? If you do, then look for an animal shelter which permits to caress animals and give some extra care and love to them. Love is more about giving than receiving so it’s always a super fun and kind idea for the two of you to go and spread some love to animals. There are many shelters that are free of cost to spend time with the sweeties.

  1. Pray and meditate together. Praying and meditating together sincerely for all that is happening during the Covid-19 pandemic would definitely help someone in this world. Prayers cannot be seen but they are miracles in someone else’s life. Praying and meditating will make you feel/bring you closer to each other, to the world and the Almighty. You can pray or even meditate if you don’t believe in God. These not only create positive energy around you but it spreads on a subtle level of consciousness which in turn can be spread just by the power of meditation.

18. Let your imagination flow. If creativity doesn’t have a big part in your job or just want to enhance your creativity then this one’s for you. You could go to an antique shop, look around at the beautiful pieces of art and machinery, and talk about the past lives of the objects or make up some story if you like.

  1. Next idea is to create something together as a project and make sure you complete it together. This would not only make you guys more intimate, understanding, and driven towards finishing or achieving a goal and evidently make you more interesting as persons! It would also make you realize how important teamwork is, especially supporting and respecting each other as human beings and lovers. Also, it would be amusing to see the two of you get creative.

  1. Last but not the least; if you don’t find anything to do other than binge watching seasons, as it has become quite common nowadays, give it a break and spend some quality time with each other. Drive down the memory lane instead. Dust off those old albums of your childhood memories and share them with your special one. Let them have some fun laughing at you seeing your uncomfortable pictures of those mischievous or shy childhood days. Let them drive through the journey of your life before you meet them. On the contrary, if your partner is a childhood friend and you guys are dating now then it’s going to be even better!

Bonus:  Learn a language together. Learning something new is challenging and boosts our adrenaline to make us enjoy the activity all the more. So, what about learning the language your beloved speaks or why not learn the language you find sexy or cool? Learning a language together in an online group lesson/course (even only two of you, is possible) is not only fun but also cheap, creative, beneficial in many ways but most importantly it’s an exceptionally good way to spend time together. For example, you would come to know about your partner a lot more by witnessing their way of thinking, processing information, and you could also help each other learn which is essential for a lasting relationship.
